Subway has opened a new store in a Lidl supermarket in a first partnership between the sandwich shop and budget supermarket.
The Cromer Subway store spans 800sq ft and is situated on the busy A148.
It is the 12th store to be opened by franchisee Raj Rao.
There are currently more than 300 Subway stores open or in development in other non-traditional locations, such as on forecourt sites, within convenience stores or within universities and colleges.
Trevor Haynes, area development manager, Subway UK and Ireland, commented: “The non-traditional locations are a key area of growth for the Subway brand in the UK and Ireland. The simple operations that are involved in running a Subway franchise and the convenience offer make it a perfect fit for these style locations. The partnership with Lidl is the first of its kind and we are excited to see what this could lead to in the future.”
More recently the BB75-retailer has linked up with forecourt operator Applegreen and also has plans for 100 sites with Euro Garages.
