A Tesco Extra store has closed its in-store bakery for two weeks due to a pest infestation.
The store in Wath-upon-Dearne closed its bakery on Saturday (10 November) following the discovery of a pest. Tesco said the issue does not affect the rest of the store.
Tesco said the in-store bakery was closed immediately after the pest was discovered and will remain closed for two weeks while the area is deep-cleaned and new equipment is installed.
It added that it is committed to ensuring its stores meet the highest standards of cleanliness.
“Following the discovery of a pest in the bakery at our Tesco Extra in Wath-upon-Dearne we closed the bakery immediately and have been working with Rentokil to carry out a deep clean of the site,” a Tesco spokesperson said.
“We are taking the extra step of replacing all the machinery which means the bakery will be closed for two weeks. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
