BBC producers are searching for talented young bakers to star in a TV programme later this year.

BBC Three’s Young Baker of the Year wants to find 16-25 year olds who are up for a challenge and keen to show off their skills. It plans to invite 100 to an audition where they will face a written test and an interview panel of industry experts to ensure they have the knowledge and potential to take the national title.

Twenty will be picked to complete a hands-on skills test and judges will then decide which four will go forward to the filming of the show in September. The final four will face challenges based on the skills of their trade.

Young Talent of the Year is now in its third series and has previously unearthed young and talented butchers, fishmongers, plumbers and chefs. This year it has five new categories: carpenters, farmers, gardeners, tailors and bakers.

Closing date for applications is 5 August. To apply, email youngtalent@bbc.co.uk or call 0161 244 3716.
