Roberts Bakery has lit up its Northwich factory in pink to mark the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The front of the bakery and its cooling towers will glow pink until the end of October, in a bid to remind the people of Northwich about the importance of being breast aware, Roberts said.
The move marks a 10-year partnership between Roberts Bakery and South Manchester-based charity Prevent Breast Cancer, for which the bakery has raised more than £150,000.
It also got behind the charity’s BreastFest campaign this month, with a series of pink-themed events and fundraisers.
“We were thrilled to light our bakery pink to show our support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Thousands of motorists pass the bakery every day and it was a huge opportunity for us to put breast cancer at the forefront of their minds in such a novel way,” said Lindsay Occleston, a breast cancer survivor and fourth-generation member of the Roberts family.
“Breast cancer is still the most common cancer in the UK and, sadly, 12,000 women still die each year from the disease. We want to remind Northwich women that it’s vital to be aware of the risk factors associated with breast cancer and how they can protect themselves from it.”
