Border Biscuits has secured a listing for its snack bars with Morrisons after investing £1m in new kit at its manufacturing plant in Lanark, Scotland.
The independent biscuit maker’s Dark Chocolate Ginger Biscuit Bars, which were launched earlier this year in Scottish Sainsbury’s stores, will be available in 182 Morrisons stores across the country.
Described as an evolution of its bestselling Dark Chocolate Ginger biscuit, they are sold in packs of six with an rsp of £1.60.
The new listing came after private investment in the firm’s facility saw new kit installed, which enabled it to produce the chocolate biscuit bars at a run rate of up to 500 a minute.
“With in-home snacking having increased by 50% during lockdown, we hope that consumers will enjoy discovering their favourite biscuit in its new snack bar format,” said John Cunningham, managing director, Border Biscuits.
“Like many food manufacturers, coronavirus has presented countless challenges for our business. To have our new Dark Chocolate Ginger Bars land in Morrisons is testament to the continued hard work and commitment of our team.”
