Pladis has unveiled the festive line-up for its McVitie’s and Jacob’s labels.
Cream-filled and rich chocolate-coated biscuits are among the indulgent treats to launch under McVitie’s Victoria brand, while Jacob’s has made half of its Christmas Caddies range non-HFSS.
“With two years of muted celebrations behind us, we’re anticipating this year’s festivities will be bigger than ever,” Cassie French, Pladis UK&I’s marketing director, seasonal & cake, said.
“Continuing our vision of offering happiness with every bite, this year’s seasonal range will help consumers make the most of hosting and gifting occasions as they get together to celebrate this season.”
We take a closer look at the NPD below:
McVitie’s Victoria Chocolate Creations
This decadent assortment joins the McVitie’s Victoria line-up for 2022. The 400g box (rsp: £6.75) contains 12 types of biscuit, some wrapped in foil. Each treat is encased in thick milk, dark or white chocolate.
McVitie’s Blissfuls Belgian Milk Chocolate & Cream
Building on the launch of Blissfuls, McVitie’s special treats sub-category launched in January this year, this variant comprises a golden crunchy baked biscuit base filled with smooth Belgian milk chocolate & cream and topped with a biscuit lid (rsp: £2.59).
Jacob’s Christmas Caddies
Jacob’s is eyeing health-conscious consumers with a lighter range of savoury snacks.
Its new Cheddar & Smoked Paprika flavoured Mini Cheddars Nibblies is said to have 30% less fat, while its Mini Twiglets have been reformulated to be both 60% lower in salt and high in fibre.
Jacob’s Mini Cheddars Original and Treeselets are also making a return for the season. The caddies vary between 200g and 280g and cost £2.79.
Alongside the NPD, McVitie’s has also revamped its sweet biscuit assortments this Christmas. Pladis said the brand was utilising the legacy of seasonal staples such as McVitie’s Victoria and the festive edition of McVitie’s Family Circle with the aim of extending their appeal and helping retailers capitalise on sweet seasonal sales.
