Orchard Valley Foods has acquired a rival company in a deal which it said will boost sales to more than £20m a year.
The toppings supplier to the baking industry obtained Daventry-based Food Ingredients International (FII) for an undisclosed sum.
Orchard Valley, based in Tenbury Wells, said the acquisition would bolster its product range – allowing it to introduce yeast products, milk proteins and dairy ingredients, organic, standard and dietetic cereal products, caramelised sugars and milk powders, and complete food mixes and industrial blends.
Great reputation
Mike Forrester, managing director of Orchard Valley Foods, commenting on the deal, said: “Food Ingredients International has a great reputation amongst its customer base, a comprehensive product portfolio, and access to outstanding production facilities that we are pleased to inherit.
“We’ve a strong desire to develop the business, introducing our existing customers to the wider set of functional components we now supply. We’ll bring all the aspects of outstanding customer and technical service for which Orchard Valley Foods is renowned to the client base.”
Orchard Valley Foods said the company would refocus its ingredients portfolio under a dedicated new marketing format, to be rolled out over summer 2014.
