Bakery in review 2024

As 2024 draws to a close, the British Baker team will be taking a look back at the big events that played out in the baking industry over the past 12 months.

The baking industry sure has been busy in 2024! There have been highs and lows over the past 12 months as we’ve seen mergers, acquisitions, and, sadly, some administrations. Some businesses have invested heavily in their growth while others have been fighting to keep costs low, particularly with the rising prices of certain commodities, including cocoa, and a poor wheat harvest.

Elsewhere, we’ll be taking a look at some of the new and recently promoted faces at major bakery businesses and what their appointments mean for their company’s futures.

Innovation has also been abundant in 2024, so we’ll also be choosing our top launches. There are so many incredible products to choose from, but which ones have stood out?
