Belgian pastry products business Pidy has extended its choux range with the introduction of the Paris Brest.
The Paris Brest is a circular choux pastry made using a French recipe - containing praline and cream - and is described as a lighter alternative to bread.
Paul Eason, chef and business development manager at Pidy UK, said he was delighted to be extending the choux pastry range.
“The construction of the Paris Brest is now easier than ever and provides the perfect touch of elegance to any menu, with the exceptional taste and texture of all Pidy products,” he said.
“It has a sturdy form and delicious neutral taste, making it the perfect carrier for sweet or savoury fillings and leaving plenty to the chef’s imagination.”
The Paris-Brest pastry was created by a French pastry chef to commemorate the Paris-Brest-Paris bicycle race that took place in 1910.
In February 2017, Maître Choux chef Joakim Pret created his own take on the Paris Brest.
