Stornoway-based business Stag Bakeries has introduced a Sprouting Grains range as part of its approach for innovation and creativity.
Stag said it has merged innovative ingredients with its heritage recipes to create the new collection.
The new range, which will retail between £2.20-£2.95, comprises four 125g variant packs including Oatcakes with Sprouted Brown Rice Flour, Cheese Wafers with Sprouted Red Wheat Flour, Water Biscuits with Sprouted Oat Flour and Walnuts & Figs, and Zesty Biscuits with Sprouted Sorghum Flour.
The oatcakes have an earthy base and a short, crunchy texture, while the cheese wafers can be enjoyed as a snack or to create the base for a savoury canapé, according to Stag.
The water biscuits are described as a “nutritional take” on its savoury biscuits, with the addition of sprouted oat flour providing a robust texture, while its zesty biscuits offer a “sweet option” within the range.
The range will be available at speciality wholesalers and distributors.
The bakery will showcase its new Sprouting Grains range at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair, London, in September.
