South Yorkshire-based The Topping Pie Company has more than tripled the number of cruise ships serving its bakes.
The family bakery is increasing the number of pies it supplies to Cavendish Ships Stores – a supplier of food and drink products to cruise and ferry liners – from six to 20.
The Doncaster-based business makes specialty pork pies using Red Tractor pork and locally sourced ingredients, alongside prime steak and kidney pie and recipes featuring chicken and ham.
“We source fine quality items for the UK cruise market and always look for distinct, quality products that stand out in both taste and appeal,” said Cliff Gregory sales and marketing manager at Cavendish Ships Stores, which has been working with the pie business for four years.
“The Topping Pie Company originally supplied just six cruise ships when the partnership was formed and the bakery’s range of first class pies has been so popular with guests, we decided to launch the products on more ships.”
Matthew Topping, sales and marketing director at The Topping Pie Company, added: “Food is a crucial part of the cruise experience.
“Millions of people who travel on cruises every year expect memorable meals and top-quality food. We’re delighted that passengers and crew alike have enjoyed our pies and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Cavendish to serve up our premier pies to voyagers and to secure a bigger slice of the high-end cruise market.”
