Glasgow food distribution firm Lomond Fine Foods, which owns Handmade Cake UK, has secured a £1m investment from NatWest Scotland to expand into new premises.
Lomond Fine Foods is a privately owned family-run firm producing chilled, ambient and frozen goods for the foodservice sector in Scotland and the north east. In 2011 it launched a cake-making venture in a bid to increase its sales, and is now celebrating a £1m investment from NatWest Scotland.
The Glasgow-based foodservice company was set up by husband and wife team Sam and Barbara Henderson in 1997. Its 19,000sq ft bakery site predominantly fulfils a contract with national wholesaler, Handmade Cake UK, at its 27 depots.
Exciting times
Tracey Hewer of Lomond Fine Foods told British Baker: “Our bakery is expanding to new, larger premises – work is currently being undertaken with a view to moving in late February. Exciting times!”
The new premises will be in Thornliebank, near Glasgow.
On his reasons for seeking further investment in Lomond Fine Foods, Sam Henderson said: “We reached a stage where we were simply outgrowing our existing premises five miles down the road and needed to create the capacity for further growth.”
