Biscuit manufacturer Burton’s Foods was honoured at the recent IGD Food Industry Awards, winning the 2011 Boxwood Award for Business Transformation.

The accolade is awarded annually to the company that has transformed its business to achieve top-line growth, operational excellence or sustainable improvements in profit.

The biscuit firm, which manufactures brands including Cadbury Biscuits, Jammie Dodgers and Maryland Cookies, said it had developed a fresh approach to taking its business forward, under a newly appointed senior leadership team, and delivered sustainable growth in a challenging economic market.

Recent achievements include international growth through its new export partnership with Walmart in the US, which will expand its footprint in both North and South America.

Ben Clarke, chief executive officer at Burton’s Foods, said: “The past 12 months have seen us refocus our efforts on successfully driving biscuit category growth and, throughout, we’ve redefined the boundaries of new product development and consumer expectations, domestically and internationally.”
