The Co-operative Group is inviting its six million members to suggest potential sites for new Co-operative food stores across the country, as it pushes forward with expansion plans.

Fourteen new stores have been opened in the last five weeks, as part of The Co-operative’s plans to open more than 300 new UK food outlets over the next three years.

It has launched a ‘Suggest-a-site’ scheme for its members, who, in turn, could receive £500 in shopping vouchers if they identify a location or property which is then acquired and turned into a Co-operative food store.

Suggested sites could be any existing business, either food or non-food, retail or non-retail, as long as it is currently on the market. Ideas can be submitted by completing an online form on the members’ website.

Its members include the majority of the group’s 106,000 employees.
