Luxury cake company owner Alana Spencer has been crowned winner of The Apprentice.

She will receive a £250,000 investment plus a 50/50 partnership with Lord Sugar following her victory in the show screened last night (18 December).

Spencer’s new brand will be called Ridiculously Rich by Alana, and will offer six core products including brownies and cakes.

She stated in her final pitch that she will be targeting food festivals and country shows, which she described as “knowing like the back of her hand”. She will be targeting delis, cafes and major retailers with her luxury homemade products in individual portions.

Spencer, who is from Ceredigion, Wales, pipped novelty gift business boss Courtney Wood to the investment after Sugar said “he went with his gut feeling”.

Speaking on the You’re Hired show following The Apprentice final, Spencer said she was in shock following her victory.

“It’s amazing, I think it’s going to take a while [to sink in]. When I applied I thought I had a good chance of winning it.”

In the final, Spencer and Wood were joined by their former Apprentice colleagues to launch their businesses and produce a TV advert in front of 200 industry experts including Lord Sugar at London’s City Hall.
