Scottish manufacturer Tunnock’s has announced its sales have risen by 3.5% in its results for the year ended 29 February 2016.
The company increased revenue to £53.1m, which it said “reflected a steady growth in its markets” compared to last year.
UK turnover increased 2% to £44m, with exports growing by 11.6% to £9.4m, while pre-tax profit came in at £7.16m, 0.4% behind the previous year.
Tunnock’s said it had more than doubled its investment in machinery to £6.3m. A fourth teacake manufacturing plant has just been commissioned and the business has recently been granted planning permission for a multi-million-pound factory extension in Uddingston, Glasgow.
Tunnock’s thanked all its employees for their continued commitment to the family-owned business.
