Somerset-based Brook Food celebrated £21,125 worth of donations at its charity cream tea event.

The tea party took place in the company’s test bakery this month to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The equipment supplier donated £25 for every order it received of £1,000 or more to a different local charity each month.

Guests included representatives from the 12 charities, including: St Margaret’s Hospice; MIND; RNLI Minehead; Exmoor Pony Centre; Musgrove NICU; UKIST; Steam Coast Trail; The Fire Fighters Charity; AT West; The Royal British Legion (Watchet); Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance; and the Taunton Association for the Homeless.

“Having all our charities here to celebrate the end of our anniversary donations was lovely. To confirm the overall total raised and hear the individual stories from each of the organisations about how the money has been spent, has been interesting,” said Ann Wells, commercial director at Brook Food.

Local friends of the company also attended: Glenmore Bakery provided scones, while Roadwater Village Hall organised mugs, tables and chairs. Creamery Rodda’s supplied cream.

“We have supported 12 local causes who offer a huge cross-section of support to different areas of the community. This has been a really great experience for us all. Our staff have recognised that their hard work, ensuring the orders we’ve taken are fulfilled, has been a huge contribution in us being able to make these donations,” Wells added.
