The Britain’s Best Loaf competition is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your skills and the quality of your creations to potential customers.
One of the biggest dates in the baking industry calendar, the contest attracts entries from across the country.
This year’s competition, sponsored by ADM and American Pan UK, will take place at the Farm Shop & Deli show at the NEC Birmingham on Monday 7 September 2020.
This year there are six categories, including Gluten Free, Innovation, White and Wholegrain.
Following huge interest in the sourdough category and the large number of entries we receive, we have split this into two categories:
- Plain sourdough: A loaf made 100% by fermentation using naturally occurring lactobacillus and the capture of wild yeasts through a starter dough. May contain only flour, salt and water.
- Sourdough with other ingredients: Made 100% by fermentation, using naturally occurring lactobacillus and the capture of wild yeasts through a starter dough. May contain flour, salt and water, plus additional ingredients such as nuts, seeds, vegetables and honey.
The winning loaf from each of the six categories will be in the running to take the ultimate accolade of Britain’s Best Loaf.
Industry professionals will once again judge the contest, which can deliver real benefits for your business. Previous winners have said their success has helped boost sales and led to new listings.
Bakers interested in taking part should visit britainsbestloaf.co.uk for more information and to enter online. The deadline for entries is 9 March, and there is an entry fee of £20+VAT for each product.
“Once again, this will be a hard-fought contest,” said British Baker editor Vince Bamford. “Judges will have to make some tough decisions in determining who wins the individual categories and which business takes home the top trophy.”
Foodex 2020 – the UK’s premier trade event for food and drink manufacturing, processing, packaging and logistics – is taking place at the NEC Birmingham from 30 March to 1 April.
