Warburtons has announced that Neil Campbell will take over as its new managing director, following the departure of Robert Higginson last year.

Campbell, currently president of Tropicana Beverages North America, has held a number of senior general management and marketing roles at PepsiCo and Cadburys. He will join Warburtons on 1 July.

Jonathan Warburton, who has been heading up the business since Higginson’s departure, said: "I will continue in my role as Chairman with full support and involvement from Ross and Brett Warburton.

"We believe that Neil brings with him the right experience, cultural values and leadership qualities to really drive us with pace and focus towards our vision of being one of the world’s best family food businesses."

British Baker announced that Higginson was leaving the business in June 2012, after agreeing it was "time for a change".
