Vegan brand Alternative Cakes is in talks to launch into supermarkets.

The brand, which has been developed by entrepreneur Hannah Carter, said contracts with two retailers are due to be signed imminently.

Its first cake range, which is made from natural, plant-based ingredients, comprises Lemon Drizzle, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Fudge, Carrot Cake and Victoria Sponge flavours.

The mini cakes will be priced for retail from £2.49 for a 2-pack, £4.75 for a 4-pack and £4.95 for a 5-inch cake.

Alternative Cakes said the products were made with the well-being of animals, humans and the environment in mind, adding that the packaging is 100% recyclable.
