Aryzta Food Solutions is tapping into the premium pastry market with Coloured Croissants.

Dubbed by Aryzta as a “profitable twist on a much-loved classic”, the croissants come in two varieties – raspberry and chocolate hazelnut. The raspberry one is filled with raspberry and red layers created through the use of natural colours, while the chocolate-hazelnut is made using dark cocoa to create chocolate layers and a chocolate and hazelnut filling.

Specialist technology is used to make the striped croissants, which Aryzta says results in intricate layers of coloured and plain dough.

The croissants are supplied frozen and are available in 45g and 90g sizes. They need to be defrosted at room temperature before baking at 165-175°C for 18-22 minutes and will keep in the freezer for 12 months with a baked shelf life of 16 hours.

“With operators increasingly looking for a competitive edge, these colourful twists on the early morning classic are ideal for enhancing breakfast or snacking menus, and are truly Instagram-worthy,” said Paul Whitely, head of marketing at Aryzta Food Solutions UK.

“The timing couldn’t be more perfect as we’ve already had rainbow bagels and unicorn cereals – now the market is ready for something new, and the coloured food trend is showing no sign of going away any time soon.”
