As sweet and savoury confectionery pairings rise in popularity, Asda has unveiled a Wensleydale cheese with salted caramel and white chocolate as part of its Christmas range.
Combining cheese and chocolate was flagged up by British Baker in our recent feature on chocolate pairings, and Asda has launched its own take on the trend, which it said is sure to divide taste buds across the nation this Christmas.
The new product includes a combination of Red Tractor farm-assured Wensleydale with sweet white chocolate and flavours of salted caramel.
Available in a 90g pack (rsp £1), the supermarket describes the cheese as “the perfect sample size to excite taste buds and change perceptions”.
“Christmas is always a shining moment for cheese, and this year we wanted to showcase something a little different. Following the success of our chocolate orange cheese last year, it seemed only fitting to take it that step further,” said James Waters, product developer at Asda.
“We hope our customers enjoy our festive cheese this season, and for those currently sour to the idea, we hope it turns them a little sweeter!”
