Asda has unveiled four new additions to its celebration cake range, taking inspiration from trends in homeware, fashion and stationery.

The new lines are a Creepy Crawly Cake, Cosmic Cake, Candy Shop Cake and The Gruffalo Cake.

  • Creepy Crawly Cake, £13: a layered chocolate sponge covered in sweet chocolate frosting and crumbled cookies and glowing jelly creepy crawlies, which glow when picked up with the light-up tongs provided
  • Cosmic Cake, £12: a chocolate sponge with galaxy-inspired blue and purple icing, topped with chocolate jewels
  • Candy Shop Cake, £13: a madeira sponge covered in vibrant yellow frosting, decorated in blue piping and topped with rainbow coloured sweets
  • The Gruffalo Cake, £10: a chocolate sponge with chocolate frosting, decorated with The Gruffalo’s distinctive features.

“Our newest range of celebration cakes make sure that everyone in the busy birthday period is catered for and has the option to enjoy a birthday cake,” said Sarah Burns, product developer at Asda.

“Our new range ensures we’re at the forefront of providing customers with quality, delicious products they can enjoy – especially on the day that’s all about them!”

Sainsbury’s recently extended its celebration cakes range with new animal-themed products.
