Asda is tapping the trend for all things sloth-themed with a new celebration cake.
The Sloth Cake, which costs £11, is made up of multi-layered madeira sponge and filled with alternating jam and frosting. It is covered in sugarpaste and finished with a sweet melt party hat.
This latest addition joins the retailer’s range of other animal celebration cakes on shelf, including the Shark Cake, Llama Cake and Narwhal Cake, which were launched as part of its spring/summer range.
“Our customers love our quirky, animal-shaped cakes, so this summer we wanted to make sure we were providing the coolest on-trend treat for kids to enjoy,” said Sarah Burns, bakery product developer at Asda.
“With summer full of parties, our latest cake is sure to impress and marks our ongoing commitment to listening to customers and providing them with delicious, fun food.”
Sloths were also featured as part of Waitrose’s range of gingerbread biscuits, which also included pug-, llama-, and avocado-shaped treats.
