Scottish pastry manufacturer Bells Food Group has secured a deal to supply discount retailer Lidl with a range of nine pies across 91 Scotland stores.
The new range, named Fergesons Scottish Pies, will be exclusive to Lidl.
Gordon Smith, Bells Food Group sales and marketing director, said: “Bells Food Group is pleased Lidl has chosen us as its principal supplier for this range.
“With an 85-year history and generations of food expertise, Bells looks forward to serving the Lidl consumers with a range of great-tasting pies.”
The pastry manufacturer has been supplying Lidl for a number of years
Lidl said the deal demonstrated its commitment to sourcing local suppliers.
“We have worked closely together over the past few months to create the Fergesons Scottish Pies range," said Paul McQuade, Lidl’s head of buying in Scotland.
“Lidl is committed to supporting Scottish producers to continue to give our customers the best quality Scottish food at the best possible prices.”
Earlier this month, Boris Planer, chief economist for retail insights company Planet Retail, said he believed Lidl had the potential to bring its click and collect scheme to the UK following its launch in stores across Germany.
