Danish bakery chain Ole & Steen has launched new sweet and savoury bakery items as part of a spring 2025 menu.
Available now at its 26 stores in London, Windsor, Oxford, and Guildford, the new seasonal items include baguettes, toasties, cakes, and pastries, which join the likes of new ‘super salads’ and iced spritz drinks for consumers to enjoy during the lighter, sunnier days ahead.
There’s the Chicken Caesar Baguette, filled with succulent pulled chicken, rich Caesar dressing, crispy bacon, parmesan, and peppery rocket. The Chicken & Coleslaw Toastie, meanwhile, is described as elevating comfort food with golden, toasted focaccia stuffed with tender pulled chicken, ranch-style red cabbage coleslaw, gooey Red Leicester cheese, and a sweet-yet-spicy chilli jam.
Pastry lovers will be drawn to the new Feta, Za’atar & Honey Danish, declared Ole & Steen. It features a flaky Danish pastry topped with tangy feta, fragrant za’atar, and a drizzle of golden honey.
For customers with a sweet tooth, there’s two bakery newcomers embracing the classic springtime dessert flavour of lemon. The Lemon Cake comprises a zesty lemon sponge crowned with lemon icing and edible dried flowers, while the Lemon Meringue Tart has a crisp shortcrust base filled with luscious lemon curd and citrus creme, finished with toasted meringue.
Lastly, the Banana & Walnut Bread offers a balance of soft, nutty and naturally sweet flavours.
“This is our biggest and most exciting spring menu yet, celebrating the fresh, bright flavours of the season,” commented a spokesperson for Ole & Steen. “From bold new salads and indulgent toasties to beautifully crafted pastries and refreshing iced drinks, there’s something for every moment whether you’re grabbing a light lunch, treating yourself to something sweet, or simply taking a moment to enjoy a little hygge.”
Ole & Steen was among the finalists in the Bakery Retailer of the Year category at the Baking Industry Awards 2024. Its NPD team has been busy with several new bakery products rolled out already this year including the Blackberry Bliss pastry, the Valentine’s Social, and most recently Festival Buns to celebrate the Nordic carnival tradition of Fastelavn.
