Turkey-based bakery chain Tegtat has opened its first UK branch in Leicester.
Based at the former Schoolwear Centre on Charles Street, the bakery and café serves a selection of freshly baked Turkish bread, pastries and cakes, as well as sandwiches.
Its specials include: Kurbis (£1.34), a cookie filled with Nutella; Kunefe (£4.80), a Turkish baklava; Apple Cookie (84p) with apple chunks and cinnamon; and Turkish Croissant (£1.58) with a chocolate filling.
Tegtat Leicester was launched by franchisee Yaseen Patel, who has more than 15 years of food industry experience.
A brand of manufacturer Göçmen Börekçisi, the site was originally set to open last summer, but plans were delayed due to building work taking longer than expected.
It is one of the fastest-growing businesses in Turkey, with nearly 100 sites across the country and surrounding nations, according to the company.
Tegtat is planning to add a Turkish breakfast and omelette station to the site.
The bakery is open from 7am-7pm on Monday to Saturday and 9am–6pm on Sunday.
