Sandwich brand Urban Eat is grabbing a piece of the healthy eating market by launching a selection of healthier food-to-go options called Eat Better.
The range comprises three wholegrain sandwiches (RSP £2.99); two gluten-free wraps (RSP £3.29); five salads (RSP (£3.79); and three fruit pots (RSP £2.49). All the new products feature at least one green ‘tick’ on its traffic light nutritional information panel and none include any reds.
John Want, marketing head, said: “Eat Better has been created to ensure consumers who want to make a healthier choice in food-to-go no longer need to sacrifice variety, flavour or quality.
"eat better will be initially available at around 2,000 convenience, forecourt and foodservice outlets across the country from today, rising to around 9,000 over the coming weeks and we will be backing its launch with an extensive programme of marketing activity that will include consumer PR and advertising as well as sampling events in major cities across the UK."
It is just one of a raft of companies to chase revenue through healthier eating as obesity and a demand for more options remain in the spotlight. Most recently, bakery giant Greggs spoke of the success of its lighter-calorie options in its preliminary results for 2014.
