Mollie Philips’ Cheesy After-School Muffins have won £5k worth of equipment in a bakery competition, run in partnership with Tesco.
In a hunt for the best young amateur baker in Bristol, Tesco teamed up with newspaper the Bristol Post and cheese-maker Wyke Farms. The criteria was to create a “delicious cheesy bake”, and Philips’ Cheesy After-School Muffins scooped her the £5k worth of bakery kit.
Philips, aged 10, from Holymead Primary School in Brislington, said: “When I am cooking I feel like I can show people who I really am. That’s why I signed up to the Cheesy Bake-Off, because I wanted to show everyone that I could bake to a top standard. Plus, I wanted to make my granny and great-granny proud, as they are really good cooks who have inspired me to bake.”
Last week a 12-strong bakery team at Tesco, Chester formed a syndicate and scooped £1m between them.
