Thirty-three cyclists undertook a 333km expedition from Whitehaven to Whitby to raise funds for GroceryAid.
The route the cyclists took included 5,300m of ascents, including both the Honister Pass and Boltby Bank (both voted among the top 100 climbs in the UK). More than £28,500 was raised for GroceryAid.
Sarah De Wit, new product manager at Asda, said: “The organisation was amazing, as was everyone involved from the guides to the riders. I’m already hoping to enter again next year with a bigger group from Asda!”
The Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge will return next year, taking place from the 29 June to 1 July 2017. Visit the GroceryAid website for more details.
Last month the GroceryAid Summer Ball raised £188k for the food industry charity, the most it has ever made at the event.
