Geary’s Bakery expands with £4.5m funding

Family-owned bakery Geary’s Bakery has constructed a larger factory facility at its premises following a £4.5m investment from NatWest.

The new factory, which is set to create several new jobs within the community, will also enable the Loughborough, Leicestershire-based company to expand its production line, through which the company is aiming to add to its long-fermentation bread and rolls ranges.

The funding package was created by NatWest with support from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund through the University of Derby.

“The funding from NatWest will allow us to continue to grow our business, which has been a staple part of Leicester since 1906,” said managing director of Geary’s Bakery Jason Geary.

“We are committed to the local community. We’re grateful that the investment from NatWest will not only allow us to construct the new factory, but enable us to give back to Leicester in the form of job creation.”

The bakery has experienced a significant upturn in business since the appointment of Jason Geary as managing director a decade ago, with annual turnover reaching £20 million in 2016.

Martin Arnold, senior relationship manager at NatWest, said the company was proud to support Geary’s Bakery and wished the family continued success.
