Things are getting spooky this month, as retailers, bakers and manufacturers get into the Halloween spirit with a host of new treats.

They include spooky makeovers of existing products, a Halloween-themed afternoon tea and even treats perfect for fright-night celebrations:

Cadbury

Cadbury cakes manufacturer Premier Foods is well known for embracing Halloween and this year is no different with its Cadbury label unveiling a Pumpkin Patch Gateau for £3. The layered sponge, which comprises orange-coloured cream and Cadbury milk chocolate, serves up to eight people.

The brand is also tapping Bonfire Night with its honeycomb-flavoured Mini Bonfire Logs, which have an rsp of £1 for a pack of five, alongside Cadbury Tempting Toffee Cake Bars.

The Hummingbird Bakery

The Hummingbird Bakery has given the unicorn cake a spooky makeover this Halloween. The Rainbow Unicorn Halloween Cake features swirls of orange, green, black and purple frosting in its mane, and comes with the classic horn and eyelashes with a vanilla-flavoured rainbow sponge inside.

It is also serving up some classic autumnal American treats in the form of a nine-inch Mississippi Mud Pie, a Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Cheesecake. For those looking for a smaller treat, there’s Pumpkin Whoopie Pies, as well as Halloween Cupcake Selection Boxes, with vegan and gluten-free options of the latter available.

London Hilton on Park Lane

A passion milk chocolate tombstone, pumpkin & chocolate tart and Black Forest log are being served up as part of a Halloween-themed afternoon tea at the London Hilton on Park Lane. Served in the Podium Restaurant and Bar from 22-31 October, guests will also be treated to plain, chocolate and fruit scones paired with jam, clotted cream and chocolate praline spread, as well as a selection of sandwiches. The afternoon tea costs £39 per person or £49 with a glass of Champagne.

Mr Kipling

Mr Kipling has also got in on the Guy Fawkes act with new Toffee Apple Slices (rsp: £1 for a six-pack). Meanwhile, the packaging of its 12-pack Spooktacular Angel Slices – geared towards spooky gatherings – features bats and cobwebs. These join returning Fiendish Fancies and Terrifying Toffee Whirls on shelves.

Asda

Offering up a spooky start to the day is Asda with its new Ghost Crumpets. Priced at a pack of six for £1, the ghoulish crumpets are ideal for topping with butter and jam, according to the retailer. “Last year, our Jack-o’-lantern crumpets flew off shelves throughout October, so we hope our customers enjoy these spooktastic crumpets for Halloween just as much,” said Ciara Loker, Asda product developer.

Country Choice

Foodservice provider Country Choice is joining in the fright-night fun with two new fiendish treats. Sold in cases of 28, its Halloween Gingerbread Pumpkin is a 65g ginger-flavoured pumpkin-shaped biscuit with coloured chocolate bean eyes. A vanilla-iced chocolate sponge Spooky Halloween Cupcake topped with a pumpkin decoration joins the NPD. The 85g thaw-and-serve cake has a shelf life of 14 days, while the biscuits last for 28 days once defrosted.

Warburtons

Warburtons has been given a makeover and will be known as Warbootons for Halloween. The branding, along with haunted house and ghost imagery, will appear on three skus – six-pack, eight-pack and 12-pack Sliced White Rolls – which are available in supermarkets and convenience stores for the next four weeks.
