== Patisserie to pay out ==
Patisserie chain, Le Pain Quotidien has been ordered to pay £27,000 after a customer fell 12ft down an open delivery hatch in the shop floor in Kensington, West London. Doctor Mohan Gopal crashed into lift machinery before landing on the basement floor of the shop. Village du Pain, the chain’s parent company, was ordered to pay £7,500 in compensation, £7,000 in costs and fined £12,500.
== Britvic restructures ==
Britvic Ireland has announced proposals to "restructure and right-size its operations", which could result in 145 job cuts at Britvic Ireland. The business is currently in consultation with staff on the plans, which it has said seek to "underpin sustainable business growth and enhance group integration".
== Scots explore exports ==
Industry organisation Scotland Food and Drink is to hold a two-day conference, which will look at ways for Scottish producers and SMEs to tap into export markets. The International Conference, on 11 February and 26 March, will be held at Hopetoun House, South Queensferry.
== UK barista final ==
ScotHot, the Scottish foodservice and hospitality event, is to host the final of the UK Barista Championships 2009 on Wednesday, 4 March, alongside the show’s newest feature, Café Life Scotland. Twenty-four UK baristas, will battle it out to win a trip to represent the UK in the World Barista Championships.
Scottish bakery fined
Galashiels-based Scottish bakery Jackie Lunn has been fined £3,500 at Selkirk Sheriff’s Court, after a teenage girl suffered injuries to her hand, crushed as she fed dough into a biscuit-making machine.
