== Tesco’s Genius move ==

Recently launched gluten-free bread brand Genius is to launch on the shelves of Tesco from mid-May. Available in brown and white varieties, it is made with natural ingredients, and was invented by trained chef and co-author of Leith’s Techniques Bible Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne, who wanted to create a loaf that her gluten-intolerant son could enjoy.

== Auction lots double ==

Specialist industrial machinery auctioneer King Sturge Plant & Machinery has doubled the number of lots sold since last year, selling over £15.2m of machinery for the 52 weeks to 30 April 2009. Sales included bakery equipment at Premium Pastry, totalling £310,000.

== Sheraton on show ==

Showmore Shopfitting & Refrigeration is now the sole distributor of the Sheraton range of cabinets to the UK market. The stainless steel range features cabinets for both refrigerated and hot goods - for example heated counters with tilt-forward front glass - and is suitable for high street bakers, coffee shops and sandwich bars.

== Château Blanc appoints distributor ==

French bakery company Château Blanc, which launched in the UK at IFE in March, has appointed wholesaler Southover Foods to supply the coffee shop and independent retail markets. En Route will supply travel foodservice operations.

== Olive firm bought ==

The Fresh Olive Company, which went into administration at the end of April, has been bought out by its founding and former management team. The company, which supplies extra virgin olive oils as well as ingredients such as olives and sun-dried tomatoes for speciality breads, has been recapitalised and has no debt.
