== Anglesey mill start-up ==

Anglesey farmer Huw Owen is due to open an £80,000 mill and oil press in the autumn in an effort to add value to his crops. Bodelwa Farm in Ty Croes has traditionally grown feed-quality grain for local cattle farmers, but this year is growing 15 acres of oil seed rape, 18 acres for milling wheat, five acres of barley and three of linseed. The project is being part-funded by regeneration agency Menter Môn.

== Welsh waffles ==

Welsh bakery Tregroes Waffles has launched new packaging and branding across its range of products. The firm supplies all the major multiples in Wales and has national distribution with Waitrose and independent retailers. Available in packs of eight, the waffles come in toffee and chocolate flavours.

== Cupcake clues ==

Ex-supermodel Lorraine Pascale is to open her first cupcake shop, Ella’s Bakehouse, on Monday 20 July at The Piazza, Covent Garden, As a run-up, Pascale has been leaving cupcake clues, via Twitter, all over London for people to find and claim free cupcakes. Her cakes are also sold in Selfridges’ food hall.

== Food sales rise ==

Sales of food increased by 5.4% between April and June compared to the same period the previous year, thanks to the hot weather, according to the British Retail Consortium. Sales of picnic foods, such as quiches and other bakery products, did particularly well.

== FSA update ==

The Food Standards Agency has updated its list of products that do not contain the six food colours associated with possible hyperactivity in young children. Included are bakery goods from Jenny’s Home Baking, Beyond The Bean and Burton’s Foods.
