I wonder if this will indeed affect Morrison stores scratch production of bread and rolls etc...Despite claiming otherwise, I have witnessed first-hand that several instore bakeries (I don't necessarily mean just Morrisons) are no longer baking instore and have got rid of a lot of crucial equipment such as deck ovens, high speed mixers etc.. A far cry from the heady, cut-throat, loss leading practices from the 1980s.
The cynical among us might suspect that after causing several small businesses (potential cometition) to go under, they are no longer prepared to go to the trouble and the expense of employing skilled bakers/pastrycooks.
