Bea’s of Bloomsbury has opened a new mini store in Farringdon.

The London-based retail bakery business, which currently operates three other sites across the capital, opened Mini-Bea’s on 16 July. The shop is located on Greville Street, next to Farringdon station, with £2 coffees and £3.50 coffee and cake opening deals.

Speaking about the launch, Helena Fletcher, head of marketing for Bea’s of Bloomsbury, said: “Farringdon is a perfect spot to base this Mini-Bea’s as we can quickly serve our commuter customers great coffee and cake for their onward journeys.

“Our first morning has been a great success, with queues down the road.”

Operating as a take-away only outlet, commuters will be able to purchase items from across the Bea’s of Bloomsbury range. The business currently uses Square Mile coffee and loose leaf teas from Jing.

Earlier this year the business entered administration, and closed its outlet on the King’s Road in Chelsea. The move resulted in no redundancies, with staff relocated to other sites.

In a statement released by the administrators, it revealed the business suffered as a result of the economic downturn and because of increased overheads, forcing it into administration with estimated unsecured debts in the region of £375,000.

The buyer of Bea’s of Bloomsbury was revealed as a newly formed company Lakshmi Honey Badger Limited, involving some former directors of the London bakery business, which is also backed by a number of investors. Its three larger sites are located on Theobald’s Road near Holborn, Watling Street close to St Paul’s, and Druid Street in Southwark, under the Bea’s of Bloomsbury name.
