Convenience store chain Budgens has launched its first own-brand range of Christmas goods.
The range includes traditional favourites such as Classic Christmas Cake, Traditional Christmas Pudding and Budgens Mince Pies along with festive alternatives such as Cream Liqueur Pudding and Winter Spiced Apple Cake.
Bakeries producing the Christmas range for Budgens include Doncaster-based Sargent’s Bakeries, which is supplying the mince pies, and O’Hara’s of Foxford in County Mayo, which is making two cakes; the Classic Christmas Cake and the Nut Topped Fruit Cake.
Fruit tart and pie manufacturer Sargent’s both supplies own-label products to supermarkets such as Morrisons, Aldi and The Co-operative, as well as providing goods for wholesalers such as Bidvest Foodservice (formerly Bidvest 3663).
O’Hara’s produces more than 140 bread and confectionery products and distributes goods, including own-label items, to major retailers and independents across the Republic of Ireland including Tesco and Londis. It does not currently supply to the UK except for some seasonal lines but says it is very much looking to trade here.
Mike Baker, director of Budgens, said: “We’re delighted to launch our own-brand Christmas range. We’ve worked hard to develop a delicious range of cakes, puddings and mince pies and we’re confident they’ll be really popular. We’ve already had a fantastic response from our retail partners.”
