Eclairs are big news in London this summer as patisserie joins the ‘cool’ status that bakery has achieved thanks to consumers going crazy for it.

British Baker has grouped together the top five creamiest éclairs in London for inspiration - or just to whet your appetite and help this trend grow.

For more, check out our patisserie feature in the British Baker 26 June issue - out this Friday.

Maître Choux, South Kensington

This patisserie claims to bake the “finest” éclairs around and if looks serve as proof then we believe it. If further persuasion is needed, the place is owned and run by Joakim Prat who previously worked at a three-Michelin starred venue - how could it not be worth a trip? Look at those creamy fillings.

Belle Époque, Islington

Eric Rousseau opened his first branch 13 years ago so it’s fair to say he knows what he’s doing - just look at this! His stores are a treat for the eyes as well as stomachs so do yourself a favour and check his masterpieces out in Islington, Newington Green or Selfridges and let us know what this raspberry and cream éclair is really like.

Pierre Marcolini, Marylebone

Salted caramel can be added to anything and Pierre Marcolini shows us how it’s done éclair-style.

Paul UK, London

This raspberry éclair could be ordered alongside a chocolate counterpart for Valentine’s Day. How could this fail to reinforce some love?

Melba at The Savoy, Mayfair

We couldn’t pick just one - check out the sheer range on offer at this high-end establishment. Flavours include crème brûlée, pistachio & cherry its namesake peach Melba, so be prepared for a bit of a dither at the counter.
