There has been a spate of arm and hand-related injuries in bakery over the past few years, with three separate incidents at David Wood Baking, one at Truffles Bakery, and another at ADM Milling to name a few. So, what can the industry learn from these incidents and what can be done to prevent similar ones in the future?
Key questions this feature will explore:
- Are these types of injuries more common in bakery than other manufacturing sectors?
- What changes were made as a result of the above incidents (and other similar ones)?
- What advice does the Health & Safety Executive have to prevent hand and arm related injuries in manufacturing settings?
- How are equipment suppliers helping with this? For example, improving guards on kit.
