In a major expansion move, specialist flavour supplier International Taste Solutions (I.T.S) has announced the acquisition of an 8.2-acre site near Hungerford in Berkshire.
The independent business revealed it would be spending an initial £10m on the purchase and development of the industrial property, which is located aroud 10 miles from its existing premises in Newbury.
I.T.S plans to create one of the largest natural flavour manufacturing sites in the UK, with 20 times more production capacity across liquid and powdered flavours than its present output as well as scalable production of extracts and compounds.
The project is expected to be completed in around 12 to 18 months. The Hungerford plot features an 80,000 sq ft warehouse building and around 15,000 sq ft of office space, offering plenty of scope for future extensions as the business continues to increase – it is currently growing at around 35% year on year.
The firm’s two existing facilities on Abex Road in Newbury, one which houses its production and the other more recently opened site which serves as its innovation centre, will remain unaffected. Both buildings are currently being extended and will continue operating as normal.
As a result of the expansion, I.T.S noted it will be looking to increase its workforce, opening up job opportunities in the Swindon, Marlborough, Hungerford, and Newbury areas.
Established in 2009 by Mike Bagshaw, the company currently employs 40 people and supplies natural flavours throughout the food and beverage industries including bakery manufacturers.
