Burton’s Biscuits Company is relaunching its Cadbury creme egg biscuits in the new year, after last year’s launch drove a huge growth within the special treats category.
According to Nielsen data, the creme egg treats brought another 850,000 buyers to Cadbury sweet biscuits over 17 weeks [17 w/e to Easter, 20 April 2014].
David Costello, Burton’s Biscuit Company’s head of customer category management said: “Shoppers love the delicious combination of creme egg and biscuit – but they also see it as an additional purchase alongside traditional Easter confectionery. We’re sure consumer demand will be high for Easter 2015.”
During Easter 2014, Cadbury creme egg biscuits delivered £2.92m in retail sales value in just 16 weeks, and were the No.1 Special Treat biscuit from January to April [Nielsen MAT to 11.10.14].
The products will launch from 1 January and will be available until Easter Monday. They will be sold in retailers in packs of 12 at an RRP of £1.79.
Headquartered in St. Albans, UK, the company operates manufacturing sites in Blackpool, Edinburgh, Llantarnam, and a chocolate refinery in Moreton, employing over 2,000 people.
