There are just two months left until the first Tiptree World Bread Awards.

Launched earlier this year, the new awards celebrate professional and home-baking.

The winner will be crowed Tiptree World Bread champion, and be awarded £1,000. Judging will commence at the Worshipful Company of Bakers on Wednesday 18 September.

The winners will be announced at an Awards Evening Harvest Supper on Tuesday 8 October 2013 at St John’s Hyde Park.

Partners include the Real Bread Campaign, Flour Power City, Waitrose Cookery School and The Kids Cookery School.

With 12 million loaves bought every day in the UK, bread is central to the British diet and culture. And at the same time, there is a huge proliferation of artisan bakers, as well as TV programmes such as Paul Hollywood’s Bread inspiring the next generation of home-bakers.

The judging panel includes: James Morton, finalist of The Great British Bake Off; Xanthe Clay, food writer for The Daily Telegraph; Andrew Whitley, founder of the Village Bakery and the Real Bread Campaign; Edd Kimber, The Boy Who Bakes; Phil Vickery, TV chef, and Emmanuel Hadjiandreou, author of award-winning How to Make Bread.

Register on to make sure you are in the mix to win.

Entries close on 31 August.
