Gail’s Bakery has unveiled its Easter 2019 range, including sweet chocolate treats and a hot cross bun with bacon.

The Bacon Hot Cross Bun (rsp £6) is a Gail’s traditional Hot Cross Bun – packed with sultanas, cranberries and seasonal currants, glazed with a spiced syrup – served hot with bacon.

Gail’s said the combination of sweet and savoury in the breakfast menu item created “a mouth-watering bite”.

Also featured in the Easter line-up is a Chocolate Sourdough (rsp £3.80), made with cocoa powder and chunks of bittersweet chocolate. The bakery recommends the bread is served toasted with butter, apricot jam or mascarpone.

And Gail’s is producing Easter Egg Biscuits in variants including a chocolate biscuit dipped in white and dark chocolate topped with edible flowers; and a brown sugar sable biscuit dipped in white and dark chocolate and topped with edible flowers (rsp £1.40 take-away/ £1.70 eat-in).

The range will be available at Gail’s Bakeries from 7 March.
