Malton-based The Original Baker has expanded its range with a selection of gluten-free pies, quiches and pastry products.
The range comprises three pies as well as four quiches, a classic pork pie, flavoured Scotch eggs and pastry blocks so consumers can make their own pastry products at home.
The pie and quiche variants are:
- Chicken, Ham & Leek Pie
- Slow-Cooked Beef & Veg Pie
- Veg Thai Pie
- Cauliflower Cheese Gratin Quiche
- Sweet Potato, Chorizo & Roasted Pepper Quiche
- Leek & Smoked Bacon Quiche
- Smoked Salmon & Horseradish Quiche
They are available in a range of frozen formats to suit the requirements of stockists, which include delis, farm shops, garden centres and high-end eateries.
“Over recent years we have gained a much sought-after reputation as a leader in this niche, but rapidly expanding area of artisan food. We have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback and utter delight from coeliac consumers who are now able to enjoy ‘proper pastry that just happens to be gluten free’,” said sales and marketing director Cheryl Barrett.
The Original Baker uses its own blend of flours, including white and brown rice flour, to create its gluten-free pastry.
It follows a £750k investment by the business in production equipment. The Original Baker was created earlier this year by Gill Ridgard, founder of Yorkshire Baker, and Cheryl Barrett.
