Border Biscuits has boosted its senior team with FMCG ‘heavyweights’ from the likes of Cadbury, Tesco and Genius Foods.

The Lanark-based biscuit manufacturer has hired for five new senior roles as it aims to ‘disrupt the snack market’ and strengthen its position UK wide.

Joining Border Biscuits are:

  • Mark Chance, sales director – He joins after a career at Purity Brewing, Cadbury and Tyrrells, and will spearhead Border’s ambitious market share strategy
  • Kevin Smithson, operations director – Smithson comes from C&C Group, maker of Tennents, having also worked at Genius Foods and The Jordans & Ryvita Company, to oversee the business’ refinement of its end-to-end supply chain efficiencies
  • Linda Brown, master biscuitier – Brown fought off a ‘record number’ of other applicants for the role and is charged with new product development
  • Lisa Mullen, technical manager – She is tasked with maintaining Border’s high standards in biscuit making
  • Simon Stoten, finance director – Stoten formerly worked at Greene King and Tesco.

The hires come a few months after the firm appointed Paul Parkins as its new managing director. Parkins previously held leading roles with companies including McVitie’s and Belvoir.

“This is a huge milestone for us as one of the UK’s most loved biscuit brands. The high calibre of the new additions to our senior team, alongside the expertise and experience they bring, is absolutely indicative of Border Biscuits direction of travel,” Parkins said.

“As a business, we have ambitious targets for growth which are supported by significant investment. We’re pleased to have further strengthened our senior team as we lay the solid foundations to build that growth.”
