The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) 2012 winner is to open a cookery school this summer, named John Whaite’s Kitchen.
The GBBO champion is currently renovating a 400-year-old cattle shed in Lancashire on Whaite’s family farm, from which to operate the cookery school.
The kitchen will run classes in baking, patisserie and chocolate work - ranging from one-day skill-specific classes to five-day foundation courses.
It will also offer seasonal activities, such as couple’s cookery for Valentine’s Day and hen party ideas.
Whaite will be teaching a number of classes, while the kitchen will also be open for guest chefs and local producers to hold and demonstrate courses.
The website states: “Our ethos is simply ‘to feed’. We want to feed you the skills and enjoyment of cooking, baking, patisserie and chocolate work, while of course literally feeding you products made with the very best quality ingredients.”
Since winning the Bake Off, Whaite has studied patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu in London, as well as having a weekly slot on ITV’s Lorraine and publishing two baking books.
According to the Southport Visitor, the school has submitted an application to produce ice cream and chocolate from the barn next door, with a planning decision due on 7 April.
