Dr Schär veteran Hannes Berger has been named CEO of the special nutrition and gluten-free business.
Berger has held key positions in the company for almost 20 years. In the past five of those he has been focused on development of overseas markets as CEO and president of North America, with his remit later expanded to Latin America, UK and Ireland.
The company stated that, under his leadership, US sales have more than doubled to become one of the company’s key markets, supported by investment in expansion of local production sites.
Berger replaces Philipp Schoeller, who had been CEO since 2020 and resigned at his own request at the end of last year.
Schoeller said he was grateful for the trust and support he had received from Dr Schär president Ulrich Ladurner.
“I would especially like to thank my colleagues at Dr Schär, with whom I worked closely and in a spirit of trust,” Schoeller add. “We can all be proud of the new growth we have created together and the success in strengthening the Schär brand. With great enthusiasm and passion, I have led our global business as the market leader for gluten-free nutrition.”
Ladurner thanked Schoeller for his “outstanding achievements and his dedicated work”.
“He has kept Dr Schär going in these difficult times, strengthened our global presence and boosted innovation. I hold Mr Schoeller in high esteem, regret his departure and wish him all the best and continued success in his future career and life.”
Ladurner added that the business would continue on the path it had taken, describing Berger as someone who has “known the company well for almost two decades and decisively shaped it in a leading position during this time”.
Berger said he was looking forward to working with the entire team to achieving the ambitious goals the business had set itself.
