Ingredients supplier Macphie has appointed Stuart Harrington as its new head of operations.
Harrington joined the business last month from drinks company Diageo, where he held the title distillery manager of Talisker Distillery on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
He undertook a bachelor of science in brewing & distillery at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh from 2006-2010 and worked for Diageo for eight years in several managerial positions.
“Macphie has a great reputation and is achieving fantastic things,” Harrington said. “Having worked in a production environment for a number of years, I’m looking forward to a new challenge in the food industry.”
Macphie operations director Neil Freckingham said Harrington’s operational experience and expertise would be invaluable as the company moves forward with its ambitious plans for the future.
“Harrington joins us at an exciting time, as the recent £2 million investment into our equipment and technology positions us to build on our sustainable profitable growth.”
Macphie won the Bakery Manufacturer of the Year award at last year’s Baking Industry Awards held at Hilton Park Lane, London.
