Greggs is rolling out a major menu update to ‘tantalise taste buds across the summer’ including a new Korean chicken sandwich range, veggie bake, pizza, muffin, and more.
The food-to-go chain is launching the raft of new items this Thursday (15 May) across its estate of more than 2,600 stores nationwide.
Having already expanded its hot food offering earlier this year with a chicken burger and wrap, Greggs is now adding some more hot options that tap into growing demand for Korean street food.
The Korean Crispy Chicken Burger (rsp: from £4) – available at made-to-order shops – features crispy crumbed chicken breast with salad leaves, Korean-style BBQ sauce and seasoned mayo in a soft corn top roll. The Korean BBQ Chicken Wrap (from £3.80) is also made to order, and comprises Southern Fried chicken goujons, salad leaves, cucumber, Korean-style BBQ sauce and seasoned mayo loaded into a soft tortilla wrap.
There’s also the Spicy Korean BBQ Chicken Baguette (from £3.60), packed with Southern Fried chicken goujons, Korean-style slaw, crispy onions, and jalapeños, plus a drizzle of Korean style BBQ sauce. All of the above trio can be purchased as part of a Hot Sandwich, Wedges & Drink deal.
Meanwhile, the new Korean BBQ Chicken Flatbread (from £3.50) is a cold option that has sliced chicken breast and Korean-style slaw topped with cucumber, crispy onions, and Korean-style BBQ sauce, folded in a soft flatbread.
Greggs has also unveiled a new vegetarian pastry, the Red Pepper, Feta & Spinach Bake (from £2.10). The company described it as a perfect blend of summer-inspired flavours, making it a perfectly portable comfort meal, just in time for picnic season.
Further extending its range for evening trade – the brand’s fastest growing daypart – is the new Chicken, Sweetcorn & Red Onion Pizza (from £2.40 per slice), which is made on a focaccia-style base and also sold in four- or six-slice boxes.
A new sweet treat is the Lemon Meringue Muffin (from £1.55), a soft lemon flavour muffin with lemon flavoured pieces and a tangy lemon filling, topped with lemon flavoured fondant and crumbled meringue.
Elsewhere, four classics ‘with firm OG status’ are joining the lunchtime sarnie line-up at Greggs. These include the new and improved Roast Chicken Salad Sandwich (from £2.75), the Roast Chicken Salad Roll (from £3.30), the Roast Chicken with Honey Mustard Mayonnaise Oval Bite (from £3.50), and the new Cheese & Onion Roll (from £3.30).
Bakery is also influencing a new Greggs beverage, the Caramelised Biscuit Latte (from £2.75 for regular size), which is made with its signature coffee laced with caramelised biscuit flavour syrup and topped with cream and cinnamon dusting.
Support to schools broadened
Following last year’s celebrations of 25 years of its Breakfast Club programme, which currently serves over 75,000 children daily across more than 1,000 schools nationwide, The Greggs Foundation has announced a newly evolved scheme called ‘Feeding Brighter Futures’. With the same aim of improving educational equality, the initiative will expand support beyond breakfast to include after-school and holiday enrichment activities.
The government has made a new commitment to fund breakfast provision to schools, with trials beginning last month ahead of a wider rollout by 2027. The Greggs Foundation is to continue supporting its existing breakfast clubs during the transition period and will simultaneously pilot after-school and holiday club funding with select schools through 2025.
“We’re proud that the Breakfast Clubs we support are places where children can build relationships, develop social skills, and gain the energy and focus that they need for their studies,” commented Richard Hutton, chief financial officer at Greggs and a long-standing trustee of The Greggs Foundation. “For many, it’s the highlight of their day. We’ve shown that that Breakfast Clubs are about more than just breakfast; they’re about knocking down some of the barriers to a better future.”
